The philosophy behind Fantail Audio is simple; to provide guitar players with the tools that truly inspire them to play and to enhance their sense of creative expression.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a passion for audio electronics, in particular, anything guitar effects pedal and amplification related. This passion began from necessity initially, with the need to build my very own Fuzz Face® for personal use in 2012.

Then allowing myself to follow my passion, that necessity soon grew into an all-consuming obsession with everything all-analog as I progressed from building DIY projects found online, into circuit modifications, repairs, and now bespoke pedals. The journey to Fantail Audio has been one that I have thoroughly enjoyed and is finally one that I can share with you.

Starting with the Pedal Upcycling Project, which gives faulty or broken guitar pedals a second chance at life. Or the 'no fix; no fee' repair service that offers a free, no-obligation assessment and quote. Modifications, and soon, Fantail Audio's own range of custom guitar pedals and effects.

Fantail Audio is based in the shadow of Mount Taranaki in the township of Waitara on the west coast of the North Island here in New Zealand.
